What is a stock exchange?
It is a place where transactions of buying, selling, and transferring securities on the market are carried out. In Vietnam, there are currently 3 centralized stock exchanges belonging to 2 Stock Exchanges: Hanoi (HNX) and Ho Chi Minh (HoSE), managed by the State Securities Commission.
What are securities?
Assets, including the following types: stocks; bonds; fund certificates; warrants; depository certificates; derivative securities, other types of securities as prescribed by the Government.
What are deposited securities?
Securities that have been deposited in the securities depository system and are existing in the form of electronic data, integrated into the customer’s securities investment account based on registration at the depository member (including licensed securities companies and commercial banks) or the Vietnam Securities Depository Center (VSD).
What are undeposited securities?
It is a shareholder book/document proving the investor’s ownership of securities. Trading undeposited securities will be more difficult than trading deposited ones. One of the main difficulties is that investors have to find and trade without going through the exchange with the issuing organization.
What is the secondary stock market?
It is a place where securities issued on the primary market are bought and sold between investors for one of the following purposes: storing financial assets, receiving a fixed annual income (through dividends, bonds, etc.), and benefiting by price differences.
What are listed securities?
Are securities that have been approved by the Stock Exchange (HOSE, HNX) for the issuing company to be listed and traded on the stock exchange (HOSE, HNX, UPCOM) when they have fully met the quantitative and qualitative standards set forth by the Stock Exchange.
What are unlisted securities?
Securities that have been issued, but have not been listed for trading on the Stock Exchanges (HOSE, HNX, UPCOM).
If I want to invest in securities, what do I need to do?
First, you need to open a securities trading account at a certain Securities Company and must be at least 18 years old. What are the current trading hours in the Vietnamese Stock Market?
The Vietnamese Stock Market is open for trading every day of the week from Monday to Friday, excluding holidays and public holidays as prescribed by law. Trading hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; there is a break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m and resume trading.
